The Buckeye yard, the hump, is no more. It's all gone.

About a year ago I did a short video called the hump, it was of this yard. The Buckeye yard. It is located on the west side of Columbus Ohio. The yard was built by Penn Central in 1970 to localize the Ohio Operations of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central. The yard was 4 and half miles long and had a classification Hump. The yard was taken over by Conrail in 1976 then after the split, it was taken over by Norfolk Southern in 1999. The yard was Mothballed in 2009 but still did interchanges with the Camp Chase short line, that interchange action has been moved closer to the Watkins yard. I still can not find information on the actual closing date of the yard. Xebec realty released news of buying the yard. As of August of 2021 Xebec, A Dallas based Industrial real estate firm has acquired 405 acres of the former Buckeye yard. Plans are to develop the property into a warehouse complex and will allow for Norfolk Southern to maintain rail service to the facilities.
