Rap, Video Games & US Gun Violence
In this episode, we spoke to Kwabena Rasuli the founder of Clear The Airwaves Project about some news related to the state of certain rap music genres and their links to influencing individuals to commit acts of violence. First, we reviewed a video by Michael Blacksun who had the ingenious idea to pose a racist white man rapping certain lyrics related to harming Black people. Then we discussed hip-hop artist Pete Rock’s now-deleted statement on social media about how he feels about Drill Rap music. Lastly, we looked at a statement by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) comments in the wake of the Uvalde elementary school massacre by a troubled and deranged 18-year-old and his comments about the influence of violent rap music and video games on young minds.
