Tour In Quincho Moholy meditation space By José Peña In PUCON, CHILE
The project is located on the slopes of the Villarrica Volcano, near Pucón in the Araucanía region. An area of half a hectare, almost entirely covered with young oak trees and some rocks that can be seen due to its strong volcanic activity. In addition to the existing house, there is an empty space, a clearing within the forest where it was decided to locate the project for this new barbecue area.
The client's commission was to find a space for reflection with simple lines for meditation that would connect with nature. In the search for these sensations, a language was arrived at in the suprematist art world inspired by the artist Moholy Nagy. Through this exploration of connections and proportions we create our own painting that highlights different spatial intentions where the forms do not deny the fullness that surrounds it, but rather makes it part of it, with only a couple of subtle lines that give it its function. to inhabit.
The gestures are arranged in five parts; first look up to reveal the clearing of the forest, second a wall is drawn that limits the view to the vehicular path that also divides the interior space in two (the pool area with the barbecue area), third a wall is placed that limits the view to the adjoining land and divides the public area from the private one (the barbecue area with the kitchen and bathroom), fourth the cylinder is inclined resulting in access and lowering the rainwater to the heated pool, fifth the existing rocks in the place they are accommodated outside the project in an area that is juxtaposed with the cylinder in a modulated order, this rock space provides an extension in case of events with more guests.
The structure is an element that begins as a wall that rises to work as a 1.6 m high beam supported only by its key and when it reaches the ground its resistant foundation becomes the base of the pool. The walls are support and at the same time they are transformed into furniture for interior use.
The result is a work that, upon entering it, the lines of the exterior path and the adjoining land disappear, highlighting its semicircular pool where the surrounding trees can be seen reflected in its interior, thus generating a real continuity that does not deny what it is. surrounds but makes it part, thus immersing itself in nature.
