A survey by Melanie M Lindholm, reported in the 2019 book:
Indigenous Food Sovereignty in the US. Alaska natives prospered and were extremely healthy, strong, and clever in their harsh living environment when they followed their traditional hunting, fishing, and preparing their foods. Only when they have been denied access to their lands, given processed foods, and not allowed to hunt and fish their traditional ways, they have become overwhelmed with Western chronic diseases.
