Brigadier General Cornelius Jansen Bornman speaks to us about his distinguished career in the South African Army. He started in 1965 in the Army Gymnasium. Sixteen years were in command positions - the last as Commanding General – Special Forces Brigade (1995-1999). He also completed various staff courses which are rated higher than an MBA by me.

In this episode, he talks of his time as Commanding General Special Forces Brigade. It was not an easy command with political changes demanding females to join Special Forces. Then a Transkei Police mutiny took place that had to be dealt with and was, leading to Special Forces to be treated as Special Forces again. Indeed, a fascinating conversation regarding covert operations inside South Africa that were never revealed before. We look at the March 1994 Bophuthatswana invasion by right-wing elements and the secret role of the Special Forces Brigade.
