In 1881, Charles Guiteau assassinated U.S. President James Garfield. He was tried and and found guilty and sentenced to be executed by hanging. The night before he was to die he wrote a poem called, I Am Going to the Lordy. I wrote this song inspired from that song title. There is a great documentary about it. Maybe posted on youtube. If not you can check it out from your library.

Going To The Lordy
Written and performed by
Dan D. Dirges-"cool and dark dan samples"

Well I shot the president from behind
With two bullets from my gun
I didnt wanna do, I didnt wanna do it
But it had to get done

Now he`s going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so glad
He`s going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so very glad

Well the jury stepped out to deliberate
It did not take too long
They said I might be crazy but I`m not insane
And so they handed this down

Lets send him to the lordy
Send him to the lordy
And we`ll all be glad
Let`s send him to the lordy
Send him to the lordy and we`ll
All be very glad

Well ricky dicky dicky, ricky dicky die
Ricky dicky do da day
Ricky dicky dicky, ricky dicky die
Ricky dicky do da day

Well my body was hanging from the hangman`s gallows
My neck broke right into
Blood trickled down into the cold cold earth
My soul flew up to the moon

Now I`m going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so glad
Now I`m going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so very glad

Well they put my brain into a jar to be analized
They held it to the light to take a look inside
To see what they might find

But I`m going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so glad
I`m a-going to the lordy
Going to the lordy and I`m so very glad

Well ricky dicky dicky, ricky dicky die
Ricky dicky do da day
Ricky dicky dicky, ricky dicky die
Ricky dicky do da day
