Legacy Conversations - SF - Gen Bornman - Episode 11 – Senior Staff Officer Operations Sector 10

Brigadier General Cornelius Jansen Bornman speaks to us about his distinguished career in the South African Army. He started in 1965 in the Army Gymnasium. Sixteen years were in command positions - the last as Commanding General – Special Forces Brigade (1995-1999). He also completed various staff courses which are rated higher than an MBA by me.

In this episode, he talks of his time as Senior Staff Officer Operations Sector 10, stationed in the operational area. He describes Ops Super (planned by him) and much more. The conversation turns to the Afrikaner Diaspora that took place after the Second Anglo Boer War, the 1915 Rebellion, the Red Oath, all linking into the strategic thinking of the South African Bush War. The terrain in which the fighting took place – what role wild animals played then and now. What happens when an aircraft is downed? Were the Cubans a factor or not? The role of chaplains. Indeed, a fascinating conversation with a senior officer. If you have questions for the General, leave them below. Please subscribe and activate the bell to be informed of new episodes.
