Legacy Conversations – Michael Scully - a perspective of a NSM and working with Bushmen - Talk 1

Michael Scully speaks to us about his time in the South African Army where he went through the School of Infantry and then to the Border. He tells us of his first experiences during his operational tour in Kavango between 1981 to 1982. We also look at the strategic importance of South Africa relating to the Suez Channel and the role that the country played in the First Cold War including the Rhodesian Bush War where we learned the tricks of the trade. A fascinating conversation that will continue in the next one where he tells us of working with Bushmen conducting tracking for army units (not with 31 Bn). If you have questions, leave them below.
