Our review of interior design and home design trends 2021 in this episode begins with our bathrooms.
➡ Bathrooms revisited: hands-free faucets and hands-free lighting to fully automated cutting edge toilets and bidets. Bathroom trends now come strong on adding relaxing features, as bathrooms become sanctuaries in some households. Beyond a soak in the tub or a long, hot shower, some homeowners are rejuvenating with steam showers, aromatherapy shower heads and bathtub fillers that can hold a cup of tea or glass of wine.
➡The great outdoors- 3 big trends:
- Next-level playgrounds- enhanced outdoor spaces will continue to trend this year—including elaborate custom playgrounds, which are one of the hottest trends he's seeing right now in South Florida.
- Pergolas- this year will be also known as the year of the pergola. If you want to create an inviting outdoor living space, you’ll probably need some shade to do it. A pergola is a relatively quick and affordable solution.
- Swimming pools continue to be in huge demand. We heard from many landscape pros in 2020 that swimming pools were the top requested project from homeowners and that pool installers were incredibly busy. If you’ve got plans in 2021 to add a pool, now’s the time to find a pro.
➡ Furniture: Retro furniture and color palettes: Expect to see funky color palettes
➡ Wicker and rattan, woven furniture styles will likely be trending in 2021- will be popular in 2021.
➡ Natural fabrics gain popularity over synthetics.
➡ Clean air – last year was a year that put air quality at the top of many homeowners’ minds. Air purifiers and modern technology filters became part of regular conversation practically overnight. If you haven’t done this, put it on top of the list.
➡ Grand-Millennial trend? Nostalgic nod to grandma -think floral wallpaper, antique paintings, delicate china, crocheted throws, and vintage touches with whimsical flair, but use these touches sparsely.
