Boeing Staff Told to Empty Renton Longacres HQ by April, Fueling Deal Rumors | Seattle RE Podcast

Boeing workers have been told to clear out their belongings from the jet maker's Longacres headquarters in Renton by the end of March, suggesting a sale of the $100 million office complex is coming this spring.

Two sources with knowledge of the matter told the Business Journal about the order to vacate, speaking on condition they weren't identified because they're not authorized to speak about the matter publicly.

"Everybody has been told to get in there, collect your stuff and get it out," said one of the sources, adding that several staffers have already gone in and carted off desk items and files, and taken them home in boxes. Many have been working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amazon.com Inc. might be one of several possible bidders for the property as it grows Amazon Air and other operations. The company, which is subleasing space in Rainier Square, has said it doesn't plan to expand in downtown Seattle in the near future. A commercial real estate industry source said there are several rumors about a sale but added that much of the buzz isn't to be believed.
