A video released by the Tallahassee Police Department Wednesday shows the fateful moments when an officer shot a man on Saturday. The man reportedly held two people hostage before jumping out of a window with a gun in hand.

Officers have pulled over two men, a woman and a child in a silver Volkswagen. Police ask the driver to step out of the car after finding a marijuana blunt on the dashboard.

A man in the backseat gets into the front seat, then drives off with the woman and child, hitting and knocking down one of the two officers on the scene. The original driver, who was left behind, was later released without charges.

Once officers arrive on scene at the apartment in Valencia Gardens, they are called to one apartment where it's believed a man is holding hostages. One officer goes to the back of the house, where a suspect jumps out of a second-floor window, tumbling to the ground.

The suspect is shot seconds later as he works to get back on his feet and turns toward the officer.

Other officers, hearing shots fired, move into the building to try and determine where the shots had been coming from and to clear the scene. One officer arrives on the second floor and sees the suspect having jumped from the second-floor window.

The incident and use of force by the officer, who has not been named, will be reviewed by a grand jury. The officer is on administrative leave, as per TPD policy.
