Honoring Chief Kewaskum

Chief Kewaskum was one of the last tribal chiefs of the Menominee nation in Wisconsin. His wife was a Chippewa princess, Shawanokie (Thunder is Coming), for whom Lake Shawano in Wisconsin was named. Their daughter, Mary-Ann Kewaskum Cota, enrolled in the Menominee Tribe in 1907, was the mother of my grandmother, Isabel Mary Schuster (born in 1905).
Isabel's father was John Schuster, a U.S. Calvary soldier from Wisconsin who fought in the last four months of the Civil War. John's wife was Mary Ann Kewaskum-Cota, enrolled in the Menominee tribe in 1905 (Sean's great-grandmother).
I am their great grandson, Sean Thomas Taeschner. 425-247-8827 / 206-886-9425 / Trashner@Hotmail.com
