The Greenville County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday released the body camera video and a 911 call of a shooting involving a deputy.

The shooting was reported on March 6, about 2 a.m. on Toscano Court at the Pelham Village Apartments after a 911 call about someone walking on the roof of the apartment.

Tyson Moody, 32, was shot and later charged with pointing and presenting firearms at a person, unlawful possession of a pistol, and unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to arrest warrants.

The incident began when the 911 caller said someone was on the roof of the apartment running back and forth.

When the first responding deputy arrived he saw Moody on the roof and a short time later noticed he had a firearm, according to Lt. Ryan Flood in a video news release.

The deputy illuminated him with a spotlight and began communicating with the man.

In the bodycam video, the deputy yells to the man to put down his gun.

During a conversation with the deputy, the man points his weapon at the deputy, Flood said.

"Fearing for his safety, the deputy fires one round at the subject, ultimately striking him in the process," Flood said.

Sheriff Hobart Lewis said the deputy involved has been cleared in an internal investigation.

Officials with the State Law Enforcement Division said the case remains under investigation.
