The Fixation with the Fed
Addendum to Supplemental Video
May 30, 2022
Additional Information
John@SPXInvesting.com
After posting the supplemental video, I ran across additional information in the on-going attempt to figure out if the Fed has changed policy or not.
This may or may not change the hypothesis that the Fed has shifted to a more dovish, or market friendly, stance since the release of the FOMC Minutes.
The intentions are to make further updates in the Daily Video Updates as new information is uncovered.
Why the Update?
Opening Trend-Based Positions
For those who have not taken any classes I offer, I suggest the following tactic when entering a new trend-based position:
Open the position as close to the Close as possible.
However, I realize many participants don’t or can’t do this.
It was felt I should make an addendum to the Supplemental Video to make this information available before the trading day on Tuesday May 31.
I was a bit too enthusiastic about “finding the answer” than was warranted.
1. Comments Cited Not Made by Fed Chair Powell
1. The policy shift cited was NOT made by Fed Chair Powell. Rather, it was made by Raphael Bostic, the president of the Atlanta Fed. In previous cases, the powerful catalysts came directly from the Fed Chair.
2. Timeline of Comments
The Fed Minutes were recorded on May 3-4. On May 17, Fed Chair Powell was quoted by the Wall Street Journal making statements that may not be deemed as “friendly” or pivotal. In fact, that may be the opposite.
Thank You!
