A woman living in America saved $2,000 on dental bills - by travelling to Turkey on an all-inclusive holiday.

Delia O’Malley, 26, took the journey to Turkey after she received $5,500 quote for a root canal treatment.

Delia, the founder of O’Malley Media Group, explained that even with her insurance, the process would cost her $3,099.

Irish born Delia, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia: “I got the bill on Thursday and flew out on Friday morning at 11am."

The young entrepreneur had no concern about going to Izmir on Turkey’s Aegean coast as she had dental work done there before.

She calculated how much a trip would cost, including the root canal ($160), flights ($807) and an all-inclusive hotel stay for the week ($200).

Delia explained: "I priced flights to Turkey and my accommodation.

"I messaged my contact in Izmir to set up the dental work and then booked my tickets."

It was almost $2,000 cheaper than the operation on its own would be in the United States - and she got the holiday as a bonus.

In Izmir, Delia also got a chance to see her family, who were on holiday, spend some time at the beach and go to restaurants and spas.

She said: “The holiday was wonderful and it was definitely worth it. I spent less than if I had the work was carried out in Atlanta.

"[My experience with the dentist] was really good. The dentist is amazing and I’d highly recommend them".

Delia also explained that her family and her entourage were very supportive of her decision.

“My mother was very supportive of my decision. When I told people about it, they got thinking and thought it was a very clever way to get the dental work completed.

"Others have said they want to do the same thing.”

Asked whether she would recommend people do this if they can, she said: “I am self-employed so I was able to do my work from Turkey.

"I think that more people need to consider medical tourism.

“I can work from anywhere, I’m basically footloose.”
