Putting aside the hipster aesthetics, the "tiny house movement" actual represents a return to a more traditional idea of housing as it existed for most of American, and even human, history, prior to world war 2. Living in a smaller, more minimalistic home, on non-deed restricted land, is today an act of rebellion against the post-war corporate-government consensus.
