Just before 3AM Friday morning, May 7, 2021, Officers responded to a fire at a home in the 2000 block of SW 7th St. where the homeowner was trapped inside. Officer Gallops was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher before it spread any farther than the front door.

Officer Decker responded to the back door, where Officer Bode was speaking with the resident. Officer Decker was told by the residence that there was a lot of smoke in the house and that she couldn't get the back door open. Officer Decker then kicked in the back door in order to get the 67 yoa woman and her dog out. Attached is some of the body cam video from the incident.

Great job by all the officers!!

This incident is being investigated as an Arson and is being worked cooperatively by OPD and OFR.
