Early in the morning of Saturday, May 8, Pasco Sheriff’s Office patrol and Maritime Operations deputies, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and a good Samaritan, rescued a boater after receiving a distress call. A boater’s 23-foot vessel began taking on water and sunk approximately five miles off the coast of Hudson.

As you can see in this video, the coordination between a Coast Guard helicopter and PSO’s deputies led to rescuing this individual. We share this body worn camera video of the rescue to highlight our strong partnership with the Coast Guard, and to also demonstrate another facet of the work of our law enforcement deputies.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office Maritime Operations Detachment trains for instances such as this to ensure boaters in distress are returned safely to shore, and does much more than just enforcing boating regulations. As always, all our members are there to assist, no matter the call.
