Politics are far too often conflated with it's actors, rather than it's enduring principles. Mr. Watson takes on that topic in the form of Madison Cawthorn, the representative of North Carolina's 11th congressional district. Cawthorn was hailed as one of the youngest congressmen in a long time, which gave many conservatives a positive view of him. That historical boon along with Cawthorn's physical appearance made many conservatives sympathetic towards him. Mr. Watson warns, however, that conservatives were blindsided by Cawthorn's aesthetic so much that they forgot his ideals. And he discusses how ideas must be first and foremost in our political considerations, not simply our admiration of people.
