These Top 5 Historic Homes from the Gilded Age no longer exist and have been demolished. These five homes from the gilded age of american industrialism no longer exist. Caroline and William Astor built a huge mansion in Manhattan in the 1880s but it no longer exists. Vanderbilt mansion in Manhattan was also destroyed to make way for Bergdorf's. Charles Schwab;s mansion is also no longer in existence as are the Bradbury Mansion in Los Angeles AND Stotesbury's Pennsylvania home.
