Campfire Nachos in a Dutch Oven | Easy Camping Meal

We love to camp, and we took our campfire cooking to another level when we added a Dutch oven into the mix. These nachos are incredibly easy to prepare and make a delicious appetizer or midday snack. Plus, you can customize them however you like!

Start with a hot campfire and a well-oiled Dutch oven. Then begin layering ingredients: tortilla chips, cheese, tomatoes, black beans, chopped green onions, cilantro, whatever strikes your fancy. Cover the pot with the lid and place above the fire on a grate or with hot coals both above and beneath the Dutch oven. We cooked ours for about 10 minutes but it is important that the cheese melts and the chips don’t burn. We also recommend straining most of the liquid from the canned vegetables to avoid the chips getting soggy. Garnish with sour cream, hot sauce, jalapeños, and your other favorite nacho toppings.
