US-Backed Media: One-Sided Reporting in Thailand

When residents came out to oppose violent US-backed anti-government protesters, the opposition media - owned by the billionaire opposition leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit and his family - tried to suggest they were police or military in disguise. They also depict the violent protesters as a "pro-democracy" movement despite few people joining the rallies and a growing number of people coming out to vocally and physically oppose them.

It is an example of one-sided reporting from the Western-backed opposition media here in Thailand - lies told to international audiences - and lies left unchecked by Thailand's lack of an English-language international news service to tell its side of the story.
