A Portage man would head to trial for allegedly shooting a man and leading police on a pursuit through town.

Police dash cam video showed Michigan State Police troopers attempting to stop the suspect accused of intentionally shooting someone in April.

Troopers said they spotted 22-year-old Jeremy Thrasher at a Marathon gas station in Kalamazoo County on April 15, 2021. They yelled at the suspect to get out of the car and show his hands.

Dash cam video showed Thrasher drive into other cars that attempted to block in his SUV.

Thrasher was able to flee the gas station in an SUV and lead police on a nearly 10 minute pursuit, starting in Comstock Township and ending on West Kalamazoo Avenue.

During the police chase, Thrasher backed into a trooper's vehicle and drove into oncoming traffic down Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo.

Troopers said the pursuit was dangerous and caused damage to multiple cars and a building that Thrasher crashed into to end the pursuit.

After the crash, Thrasher got out on foot, while officers chased him down and arrested him.

Thrasher faced multiple charges including assault with intent to murder, fleeing and eluding police and weapons charges.

On June 9, Thrasher waived his exam hearing in Kalamazoo County District Court and his case now heads to trial.
