On Monday, June 7, 2021, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) received a ‘Be On The Look Out’ for a 2005 Ford Fusion bearing a South Carolina tag on Palm Coast Parkway, which was reported stolen out of Raleigh, North Carolina on June 6, 2021.
Upon receiving the alert, an FCSO deputy observed a vehicle matching the description and caught up to the vehicle heading northbound on I-95. Additional units responded to assist and the stolen vehicle was stopped on I-95 at mile marker 292. Once the vehicle came to a complete stop, deputies initiated a high-risk traffic stop. Verbal commands were given to the driver, later identified as Adrian Cummins (DOB: 10/29/1997), to exit the vehicle and he complied.
Cummins was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle and was secured by deputies without incident. He stated that he did not know the car was stolen, and a friend let him borrow it from North Carolina to drive down to Florida for the day and then bring it back. However, when asked what his friend’s name was, Cummins struggled to answer.
Deputies arrested Cummins and upon searching him, a folded-up dollar bill in a zipper-closed pocket was discovered which contained fentanyl.
This is not Cummins’ first encounter with law enforcement. He has previously been charged for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery, Sexual Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Failure to Appear, Aggravated Battery, Kidnapping, Probation Violation, Smuggling of Contraband into Prison and Lude and Lascivious Behavior in Seminole and Osceola County.
“Another criminal made the mistake of coming to Flagler County,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This guy has a long history with law enforcement. I’m thankful that our deputies arrested and recovered the stolen vehicle without incident. This is another example of how the technology we’ve implemented throughout the county and within the Real-Time Crime Center helps us apprehend criminals and recover stolen property before crimes are committed in Flagler County. I hope he enjoys his stay at the Green Roof Inn.”
Adrian Cummins was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He’s being charged with Grand Theft, Possession of Fentanyl, and Driving Without a License. He’s being held on a $5,500 bond.
