This afternoon Golden Gate Division Air Operations was requested by the San Rafael Police Department to respond and assist with a suspect who fled from officers by swimming away in the frigid bay water.

The suspect swam to a nearby island in an attempt to hide from officers. CHP Air 37 arrived overhead and maintained updates of the suspects location until an arrest team was ready.

CHP H-32 arrived at the scene along with boats from the US Coast Guard and San Rafael Police Boat.

CHP H-32 deployed a San Rafael K9 Team along with a CHP Flight Officer Paramedic onto the island. The US Coast Guard deployed an arrest team comprised of San Rafael Officers and Marin County Sheriff's Office Deputies.

Once arrested the suspect was hoisted from the island by CHP H-32 and was transported to waiting officers onshore.

This was a very dynamic operation comprised of federal, state, county, and city agencies seamlessly working together. #teamwork.
