Tucson police released body camera footage along with other details on the fatal shooting of Joshua Lee Moore by police on May 31.
According to the department, Moore, 33, died at the scene after an officer shot him after the man ignored officers' commands and brandished a revolver.
The officer who fatally shot Moore was identified by the police department as Officer Antonio Pena, a 9-year veteran at the department.
At around 5:30 p.m. on May 31, Tucson police responded to multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area near a rental unit complex by Prince Road and Stone Avenue.
In the critical incident briefing released by the Tucson Police Department Wednesday, a 911 call from one of the complex's resident states that the man who lives in "the back house" fired off at least four shots, going into the cul da sac and screaming "call the cops, I'm ready for them."
According to the department, officers arrived at the scene, secured the perimeter and began to approach Moore's house. They attempted to make contact with Moore and gave him several commands to exit the home unarmed, a news release said.
As seen in the body camera footage, Moore threatens to release his dog on the officers and tells them that "bullets will be fired. This is not a warning, not a threat; that is a promise."
Moore is seen in the body camera footage entering and exiting the home from the side door, which he eventually exits from, according to the briefing.
Police said Moore exited the home from the side entrance with a gun in his hand, despite being told to come outside with nothing and to show his hands. Instead, Moore ignored those commands and "brandished a revolver," according to the department.
In the body camera footage, Pena says "no one wants to hurt you," asking Moore to show both his hands.
In the video, as Pena asks to see Moore's hands, Moore says, "What is in my hand?," and the officers are heard responding, "Gun, gun, gun."
Pena then shoots his firearm once, striking Moore, as heard in the video.
According to the briefing, Tucson Fire rendered aid to Moore but was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the briefing, Tucson police confirmed they found the revolver next to Moore at the scene.
The shooting is still under investigation.
