Pileated woodpecker male & female side by side.

This is a really great angle to see the differences between the male and female pileated woodpeckers. Note the size differences with the male being larger, the full red crest & red stripe on cheek (left). The female on the right has a gray patch on the "forehead", smaller stature, and a black cheek stripe.
