Toledo police on Thursday released the body-camera video footage of officers responding to multiple Independence Day shootings in central Toledo that resulted in a 17-year-old being killed and 11 others injured.

In the video the officers get out of their patrol car in the direction of continuous explosions, or gunfire, or both while yelling at screaming bystanders to “stay down” and “find cover.”

“We’ve got multiple shootings everywhere,” one officer is heard saying during the chaotic episode.

At one point they stop a person, ordering the person to “show your hands, don’t (expletive) move,” but then continue to move in apparent pursuit of the source of the shootings. The video ends abruptly at 3 minutes and 38 seconds.

Police spokesman Officer Andrew Dlugosielski said the publicly released clip was cut off because it contained evidence that will be used by investigators and there no was no more shooting after that point. He said the person stopped was probably told to show their hands for safety reasons.

Stephon Johnson died during the shootings at the Fourth of July block party at Lawrence and Detroit avenues early Monday.

Police said multiple gunmen fired approximately 80 rounds. The surviving victims ranged from age 11 to 51; nine of them were stable, but the 51-year-old and a 19-year-old were in critical condition, according to police. Officer Dlugosielski said the 11 injured people are expected to recover.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is offering $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individuals responsible for the murder and the shooting.
