Sometimes we forget how rich and full our lives are and how blessed we are to live through these times. Even something as simple and taken for granted as olive oil has a story behind it.

This is the story of the olive. Olives trees are arguably one of the most well known trees in the world (who hasn't heard of an olive tree and its references to peace?) which produces one of the most commonly used oils in the world.. But yet the story of the olive is a story that up until today I did not know.

We hand picked the olives from the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and we took them to an olive press in the village of Latrun to make our own fresh as can be olive oil!

I had no idea that olive oil was almost neon green colored when first pressed. Did you?
