Sunday Longplay - F1 ROC 2: Race of Champions, a.k.a. Exhaust Heat 2 (SNES)

This week on Sunday Longplay, I'm playing the sequel to a classic SNES racing game that I played a lot as a kid but wasn't really well-known in the states. Welcome to F1 ROC 2: Race of Champions, also known in Europe and Japan as Exhaust Heat 2!

A few changes were made to the gameplay from the first game this time around. The first has to do with getting new parts for your car. In the first game, you simply bought them with your prize money, but in this game you have to give your money to an engineer to develop the parts, and after a couple races when they're ready, then you can finally equip them. The other change involves the content of the game. In the first game, you just started at the Formula One calendar. In this game, however, you have to race through two lower classes (Group C and Formula 3000) with new and original tracks before you get to the F1 calendar. Before each race, you can also set the number of laps around each track you want to race for both the qualifying lap run and the final race.
