The GOP is currently reeling after President Trump's recent defeat and is attempting to discern the best pathway forward. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy suggested in a memo obtained by Axios that focusing on electing "women and minority" candidates is the best way forward, and many GOP luminaries are onboard with that message. Mr. Watson, as always, critiques this idea as caustic to the foundational principles of the GOP and an aversion of political truth. Without political truth, he concludes, we cannot govern justly. He urges his listeners towards a different condition through not considering voters as demographics or statistical selves, but as living, breathing inheritors of the American experiment who should be understood in all their complexity.
