Newly released body-cam video from the Chandler Police Department shows footage of a man attempting to run over officers with his RV last month.

Chandler police received a call from a homeowner on Saturday, July 24, saying there was an unknown RV parked on her property. "Someone has parked their RV in the front driveway of one of my houses down there," they said during the 911 call. "Both of these houses used to be known as "druggie houses," she added.

Officers arrived at the house and found Arnold Serrano, 32, barricading himself inside the RV. The body cam video shows officers attempting to shield themselves as Serrano pummels through the gate, driving straight at the officers. Police then shot at the RV as Serrano began to drive off. Serrano allegedly sped up to 100mph in an attempt to run away from officers. Finally, the RV crashed into a car near Dobson and Frye roads.

Police say the Serrano was hurt in the crash. He had been shot several times when he drove toward officers. Officers arrived and arrested Serrano, who had to be taken to the hospital first.

Detectives found ammunition and a gun in the wreckage of Serrano's RV during the investigation, according to police paperwork.

According to Chandler police, the following charges are recommended against Serrano:

-12 counts of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon
-aggravated assault on an officer, criminal trespass
-criminal damage
-unlawful flight from law enforcement
-failure to stay at an accident.

No officers were hurt in the shooting. It was the 40th shooting involving law enforcement in Maricopa County in 2021.
