On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at the Circle K gas station on Palm Coast Parkway. The reporting party advised she was in a physical altercation with her childhood friend, identified as Andrew Allen (DOB: 7/22/1994), and he took off with her 5-year-old daughter in her vehicle.

Upon deputies’ arrival, the reporting party advised she was driving her white Dodge Journey and Allen was the passenger and her 5-year-old daughter was in the back seat. She stated that she exited the vehicle when Allen went inside the gas station. When Allen came out of the gas station, he jumped in the driver’s seat and locked the vehicle with the child still inside. The mother asked Allen to unlock the vehicle repeatedly and he refused and drove to the other side of the gas station parking lot.

The mother approached the vehicle when it stopped and asked Allen to unlock the doors. Allen finally unlocked the doors and the reporting party grabbed her purse and belongings, and Allen exited the vehicle, shoved the victim and she fell to the ground. Allen then jumped back in the vehicle and fled onto Belle Terre Parkway. The child was still in the back seat.

Upon questioning the victim stated she and Allen have been friends since childhood and she was the owner of the vehicle and did not give Allen permission to the car or the child.

Deputies located the vehicle at the intersection of US-1 and Commerce Boulevard and conducted a felony traffic stop. Allen was secured without incident and the child was recovered safely and in good health.

“This was great work by our deputies who acted quickly to recover the child and vehicle safely,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “A situation like this is very time-sensitive and required great teamwork to make sure no one was hurt. Of all the bad decisions Allen made at least he made one good choice and did not try to flee.”

Allen was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He’s being charged with Kidnapping, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Simple Battery. He’s being held on no bond.
