Glory For Christ
47th in our series the Book of 1 Peter

I. Persecution of Christians is not Strange - 1 Peter 4:12-13
A. The world rejects and hates the light
B. As they reacted to Jesus, so also to His disciples

II. The Blessing of Persecution - 1 Peter 4:14
A. First that we are not the persecutors, but rather the recipients of that persecution
1. The name of Christ - Matthew 5:10-12
a. Lies will be told, false accusation made
b. Rejoice exceedingly for great is your reward
2. They will revile and reproach, verbally, and then assault physically
B. The Spirit of Glory and the Spirit of God rest upon the persecuted - Christ is glorified by our persecution
1. We share in Christ’s glory in the persecution
2. The evil doers blaspheme while the saints bring glory to the blessed Name of our Lord and Savior

III. Partaking the Sufferings of Christ - 1 Peter 4:15-16
A. Disciples of Jesus are not evil doers
1. The murders in America indicate we have fallen from the essential task of making disciples
2. The law of God is perfect justice - Psalm 119:137-144
a. The Holiness of God makes His Law alone the perfect standard of justice
b. Therefore God’s Word alone is the standard of justice and righteousness
3. Righteousness is to recognized another human as a being made in the Image of God and
4. Therefore possessing God given Rights
B. There is no shame in persecution, only glory and honor
