Law enforcement in Uvalde Texas demonstrated just how far they're willing to go to protect their own lives. They allowed the Uvalde shooter to stay in the school for an hour before they would finally engage him. It is a complete dereliction of duty and a clear lack of humanity.

Here is Anderson Cooper and it's good for him. but the challenge of this stuff has to be more aggressive. Because it's just absurd.
This is in the immediate aftermath. But this is a nugget of information that is needed when we're talking about how cops are. You know how we need to respond to these school shootings. everything but gun control.
Look at this school and think about Abbott's like we need to have a single point of entry. Okay, so we bar. I mean honestly like let's just make these things prisons or military bases and forget about educating the kids. Let's just get them in there and they can all just stand by behind sandbags and wait. and Then we could take out these guys. But here is Anderson Cooper.
Speaking sorry we should just say speaking with the Texas Department of Public Safety sergeant Eric Estrada.
And if it was because of the phone call I'm not sure I heard it correctly before he entered the school did you say that was your term an epic crash?
Yeah, so he did the suspect crash near a ditch here nearby the school. That's where he exited his vehicle with I believe it was a rifle and that's when he attempted to enter the school where he was engaged by law enforcement. and unfortunately, he was able to enter the premises, and then from there, that's when he went on and entered several classrooms and started shooting his follow-on.
Do you know if he was being pursued by law enforcement? Is that what precipitated the crash?
No as of now no vehicle pursuit got reported on our log on any other law enforcement log but it is, of course, preliminary as of now.
