A man facing multiple warrants in several counties is still on the run as of Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler is now asking for the public's help tracking down Kyle Mair, 33, who is a resident of Coles County.

"Two months ago we got a tip that the subject may be in our area driving a gray BMW," Wheeler said.

Wheeler was on patrol on Friday when he saw a silver BMW being driven erratically.

"I conducted a traffic stop on him, at which time he exited the vehicle and approached my vehicle," Wheeler said. "Then he stopped and turned around and got back into his car. I did hear him say to the female and child inside the car, I could hear him tell them to get out of the vehicle."

Wheeler said the woman is Mair's girlfriend and the child is her son.

Mair then took off down the road.

Chief Wheeler pursued Mair until he reached Decatur. That's when Wheeler notified Decatur Police and the Macon County Sheriff's Department.

Wheeler ended his pursuit due to safety concerns.

"He shouldn't be on the street," Wheeler said. "That's all I can say. He is a threat to society and he is a threat to all citizens."

Law enforcement has not made contact with the girlfriend as of yet and does not know who she is, but they did visit the son on Sunday at his grandmothers home.

"We spoke to him and he was still scared about what happened that night," Wheeler said.

We're told Mair is considered armed and dangerous.

“This man is a danger and we need to get him off the streets," Wheeler said.

According to Chief Wheeler, Mair currently has warrants out for his arrest in Shelby, Coles, and Macon counties on the following charges:

Coles County:

- Meth delivery 5 (less than symbol) 15 grams, domestic battery, and fleeing and eluding police

Shelby County:

- Fleeing and eluding police, possession of Narcotics

Macon County (from August 4th):

- Possession of less than 5 grams of meth, traffic warrant

Christian:

- Fleeing and eluding police
