Columbus police say an officer responding to a domestic dispute at a Southeast Side apartment complex Wednesday morning shot and killed a man allegedly wielding a knife.

Officers responded to a call just after 9:30 a.m. from a woman regarding a domestic abuse situation at the Kimberly Parkway East apartment complex.

Division of Police spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua said the officers were met outside by the female caller and eventually the man with the knife charged at her.

Officers tried unsuccessfully to subdue him with a Taser and an officer then fired several times, wounding the man who died later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, according to a report by WBNS 10-TV.

Police didn’t immediately release the names of the man or the officers.
