A frightening body camera video released by Dayton Beach police shows officers engaged in a chaotic gun battle.

It happened early Monday morning in the area of Piccadilly Drive.

The suspect is told repeatedly to show his hands and drop the rifle as officers position themselves and struggle to see where the man was.

"That round just hit about four feet in front of me," one officer is heard saying. "He's shooting again ... he just shot at me."

"Don't shoot unless you see him," one officer is heard saying. "Someone go to my truck and get me more ammo."

The suspect eventually surrendered due to a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was identified as 25-year-old Joseph Calvin Jaynes II.

"Luckily that time of morning, few people were out, but bullets don't have names on them, so when we're shooting like that, always a chance someone could be hurt," Daytona Beach police Chief Jakari Young said.

Once he's been cleared from the hospital, police say Jaynes will be booked at Volusia County Jail on 10 felony counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
