A fatal officer-involved shooting occurred on Mad River Road in an unincorporated area of Arcata on Thursday, Sept. 9.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, which is taking the lead in the investigation through the Humboldt County Critical Incident Response Team, said a single California Highway Patrol Officer fired his weapon in the incident.

Officials identified the man killed as 35-year-old Charles David Chivrell, of Eureka. Click here for more details on the incident released by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 16.

Additional video is being prepared for release in conjunction with state law and the Humboldt County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) investigation of the incident.
