DC police have released camera footage of an officer who this week fatally shot a man inside a southeast DC apartment.

Police say they were trying to serve a temporary protection order on Monday, October 18, in the 1300 block of Congress Street Southeast before the shooting.

You can see the police encountered a man who was arguing with a woman inside the apartment.

Police said earlier this week that an officer shot the man during a physical fight that ensued while trying to handcuff the suspect.

The man, 30-year-old Deandre Johnson from the Southeast, later died at the scene.

The officer who shot Johnson is now on administrative leave, awaiting the outcome of the department’s internal investigation. Police did not identify the officer.
