A Jefferson County woman is behind bars after deputies had to resuscitate her infant daughter from an overdose after she ingested illegal drugs. Learn more and hear from the deputy in the video above.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said 31-year-old Jeanette Bell is charged with chemical endangerment of a child and is in the Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 bond.

Around 2:36 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the 6400 block of Avenue D in Fairfield after a frantic caller reported a 1-year-old had overdosed. At the scene, deputies found the child unresponsive on the floor. Witnesses told deputies the infant had ingested illegal substances, possibly fentanyl, and had been unresponsive for about 30 minutes.

JCSO said deputies worked quickly to try to resuscitate the child by using Narcan. Shortly after, the little girl started breathing again and she was transported by ambulance to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham, where she is reportedly in stable condition.

During the investigation, Bell admitted her daughter had accessed some of her drug paraphernalia and put it in her mouth.

The Department of Human Resources was contacted to check the welfare of other children in the home.

On Wednesday, JCSO released bodycam footage from the call.
