Officers responded to the scene of a sinking car Friday just in time to get the driver out, the the Port Orange Police Department said Monday.

The car ran off the road and into a canal, trapping a woman inside as it sank.

Three officers arrived and were able to break a window and save the woman.

Body cam footage the department released on Monday shows officers wading through floodwaters after heavy rains at about 9 p.m.

The video shows bystander neck-deep in the water, trying to help the woman but unable to open the doors or break the windows.

The woman can be heard screaming inside as an officer approaches with a tool and begins slamming it into the window glass.

After several tries, an officer is finally able to bust a window. Within seconds, the red sedan is submerged, and the trapped woman’s screams grow more frantic.

A cop is able to grab her, pull her out at the last second, and drag her to the safety of an embankment.
