Creeds of a Warrior: Fighting Spiritual Battles with Guest Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin

One of the biggest problems with American Christianity today is the misconception that God saved you only so you can go to Heaven. That’s not true! The Lord also saved you so that you could be a warrior in His kingdom here on earth. On today’s Family Talk, Lt. General (Ret.) Jerry Boykin, who commanded the elite Delta Force combat missions, outlines the spiritual application of five revered and timeless military mottos. For example, Semper Fi, the Marine slogan which means “Always faithful,” should remind us of our call to be faithful to God as He has always been with us. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good.”

About Today's Guest: Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin
Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin serves as the executive vice president at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. He was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force, and he went on to command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later in his career with the Army, Boykin also led the Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School. During his 36-year military career, General Boykin was involved in numerous high-profile missions, including the 1980 Iran hostage rescue attempt, the 1992 hunt for Pablo Escobar in Colombia, and the Black Hawk Down incident in Mogadishu, Somalia. He is an ordained minister with a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and encourages Christians to become warriors in God's Kingdom. Boykin served his last four years of public service as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence under President George W. Bush, from 2002 to 2007. General Boykin and his wife, Ashley, enjoy spending time with their five children and a growing number of grandchildren.
