Two rescued from burning vehicle in Dunn County

A two-vehicle, head-on crash left two people trapped inside a burning vehicle in Dunn County. However, thanks to the quick action of an officer and deputy on scene, the two were pulled to safety and it was all captured on body camera footage.

According to the Dunn County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened on Monday just before 1:30 p.m. on 980th Avenue in Hay River township.

As reported by KSTP, the video shows Boyceville Sgt. Peter Rud and Dunn County Sheriff's Deputy James Gates pulling the female passenger from the burning Dodge Neon. The 18-year-old male driver was also rescued.

According to a press release, the two pulled to safety sustained serious injuries and were airlifted from the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates the Dodge Neon was eastbound on 980th Ave. and a Chevrolet Silverado was westbound. The two vehicles hit head-on at the crest of a hill.

The crash remains under investigation.
