Man dies in deputy-involved shooting after woman is stabbed

A deputy or deputies fatally shot a man in Altadena on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Morgan Arteaga said. The incident took place in the area of Figueroa Drive and Lincoln Avenue at 4:08 p.m., LASD Sgt. Oscar Martinez said.

LASD deputies were patrolling the area when a woman who was a stabbing victim flagged them down, Arteaga said. Following that, deputies contacted a person in the area with a knife and a shooting occurred, LASD Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

The woman was transported to a hospital. Information on her condition was not immediately available.

Details regarding the identity of the man who was shot were not immediately available.

No deputies were reported injured.

The shooting was under investigation.
