On November 30, 2021, officers were dispatched to reports of a male walking on the Freedom Park Trail, firing a gun into the air and woods. It was later reported that the suspect fired at several people as well. Upon arrival, officers began checking the trail. They located the male near 665 Highland Avenue and approached him there.

Initially, officers weren’t certain this was the shooter, but further investigation determined he was. The male was placed into handcuffs without incident. Officers learned he had tossed the firearm when he saw police. They searched the area and quickly located it. 25-year-old Mytavious Sigmon was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

We appreciate the professionalism displayed by these officers in making this arrest, their demeanor and actions reflect our highest ideals and training. Job well done to all involved.
