Cuomo, Biden, and the #MeToo Hypocrisy

This week on 51/49, James exposes the double standard between how the Democrats are handling Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment allegations versus those made against Joe Biden last spring.

Despite credible allegations made against both Andrew Cuomo and Joe Biden, last spring and against Cuomo right now are credible, the response of the media and political establishment have been very different.

With Biden, he did one televised interview on Morning Joe to address Tara Reade's allegations, denied everything, and most people in the Democratic establishment and the media moved on.

On the other hand with Cuomo, both New York Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand have called for Cuomo’s resignation, along with nearly all New York House Democrats.

Why?! Well, as it turns out, it all has to do with preserving power and maintaining the status quo.

In the case of Joe Biden last year, he was in the midst of a primary battle against his anti-establishment rival Bernie Sanders, and if the Democrats would’ve called for Biden to drop out, Bernie would’ve almost certainly locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination, something seen as very undesirable by party insiders.

In the case of Andrew Cuomo, another establishment insider Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul would be first in line to succeed Cuomo if he were to resign.

It's disappointing to say, but today, still the seriousness of a sexual assault allegation against a prominent politician still has a lot to do with how politically convenient it is to prosecute it...
