Police released body camera video of an incident between an officer and a suspect during which shots were fired earlier this month at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex.

Around 8:15 p.m. Dec. 8, Officer Andrew Ash responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex near Northwest 63rd Street and MacArthur Boulevard. Ash approached the suspect in an apartment breezeway when police said the man reached into his pocket and pulled out a firearm.

The video the Oklahoma City Police Department released Tuesday shows those intense moments, with, at one point, Ash staring down the barrel of the suspect's gun. Ash could be heard several times telling the suspect not to shoot.

The suspect told Ash that he was going to shoot the officer.

Ash walked backward away from the suspect and tripped over some stairs, and the video shows that his firearm discharged. The officer called in that shots were fired immediately after his gun went off.

The suspect then fled into an apartment, prompting an hours-long standoff with officers. He eventually surrendered and was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

No injuries were reported. Police identified the suspect as Antwon Hill, 40.

Authorities have placed Ash, who has been with the Oklahoma City Police Department for one and a half years, on routine administrative leave.
