Tigard police officer nearly hit while helping stranded driver

"You're going to get hit, sitting here."

That's what Officer Jackson said as he was helping this driver, who was disabled in the snow in the middle of the Scholls Ferry Road overpass off Hwy 217 on December 26th.

Seconds later, he was nearly hit by another driver who lost control in the snow and slid into the spot where he'd just been standing. If he hadn't jumped out of the way, he could have been pinned between the two cars.
Luckily, he wasn't hurt.

With freezing temps and the potential for more winter weather over the next day or two, it's a reminder of the dangers first responders face out there.
