Secret Falls, Highlands, NC -- 4K Cinematic

Secret Falls is an absolutely stunning waterfall in the Highlands of North Carolina, close to the Ellicott Wilderness. Secret Falls Trail is located off of Big Creek Road, which dirt and gravel most of the way, so be careful on the road itself. At the time we went, the gates were closed just outside of the trailhead, so we hiked in an additional 1/4 mile or so. It is an extremely short hike at 1.3 miles RT and 255 ft elevation change. The trail is pretty well-manicured with a Blue Blaze to mark the way. Be careful on the final descent down to the falls, because the old wooden steps have seemed to have taken the brunt of the winter weather erosion. Wear proper shoes if you are planning on going. This is one of the WC 100 Challenge.
